Bad weather prompts suspension of classes in Albay, Sorsogon

LEGAZPI CITY – Classes in several areas in Albay and Sorsogon provinces were suspended on Monday due to heavy rain.

In Albay, Sto. Domingo Mayor Herbie Aguas suspended classes in all levels due to threat of flooding and following the raising of the alert level over Mayon Volcano, which spewed ash after a steam-driven eruption on Saturday.

Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal also suspended the afternoon classes in all levels on Monday as the Albay capital experienced heavy rain.

Joseph John Perez, Department of Education information officer in Sorsogon, said classes in elementary and secondary school levels in the province were likewise suspended in towns of Barcelona and Bulusan on Monday amid the inclement weather.    /kga
