Ex-police asset turned druggie shot dead; 3 others hurt in Taguig

Motorcycle-riding gunmen shot dead a former police asset in Taguig on Saturday night, hitting three other people with hit by stray bullets.

Ryan Yalung was on his way to buy a stick of cigarette at store near in his house on Capinpin Street, Barangay Upper Bicutan, at 11 p.m., when he was shot.

Yalung was able to run for another block but was shot thrice, getting hit in the head and body. He died on the spot.

Three neighbors were also hit by stray bullets: Abdul Khalem, and husband and wife Samuel and Rosalinda Refuerzo.

They were taken to Taguig-Pateros District Hospital for treatment of wounds in their hands and legs.

Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered slugs from .45-caliber pistol at the scene of the crime.

An uncle of Yalung claimed he was a police asset.

Senior Insp. Jonathan Arribe, commander of Police Community Precinct 2 (PCP-2) in Maharlika, clarified he was “a former asset but became a drug user and pusher.”

Police, however, could not confirm which police unit Yalung was working for.

Arribe said Yalung was a drug pusher, dealling especially in shabu, or crystal meth, in Taguig and Parañaque.

Police investigation pointed out his killing as a case of “agaw bato” and “onsehan” – a case when pushers competing for buyers kill each other. /atm
