London Heathrow has a record-breaking 2017 with 78 million passengers

London Heathrow had a record-breaking year in 2017 with 77.98 million passengers traveling through the British capital’s airport in 2017.

Heathrow’s figures have been buoyed by the arrival of larger aircraft with higher passenger capacities, with airlines managing to keep planes fuller, selling most of their seats.

While passenger numbers from domestic flights were up 3.3 percent, Heathrow is above all a hub for European flights, with 32.48 million passengers arriving at or leaving from the airport (+2.4 percent). North America is the second largest market for the London airport, with 17.35 million passengers.
