Van catches fire on SLEX
SAN PEDRO CITY—A private van caught fire in Sta. Rosa City in Laguna province, slowing down traffic on the south-bound lane of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) Saturday morning.
Randolph Perez, an operator from the Manila Toll Expressway Systems Inc. (MATES), the SLEX operator, said the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. prompting a MATES firetruck to respond.
The fire was put out before 10 a.m. and the vehicle towed away.
He said an investigation was underway but they were initially looking at the vehicle’s faulty clutch that caused the fire.
No one was reported hurt. The incident slowed down traffic but all lanes remained passable. Maricar Cinco, @maricarcinco, Inquirer Southern Luzon
