The Senate blue ribbon committee has approved detained former Customs chief Nicanor Faeldon’s request for a humanitarian furlough to be with his wife as she gives birth to their youngest child.
Senate Sergeant at Arms Jose Balajadia said his office received the order from the committee, chaired by Sen. Richard Gordon, on Friday morning.
Gordon had ordered Faeldon’s detention in the Senate after the latter refused to participate in the hearings on shenanigans in the Bureau of Customs.
“Finally, I’ll be able to witness the birth of my youngest child … take my oath as deputy administrator of the [Office of Civil Defense] and get medical attention from my cardiologist,” Faeldon said. —JOCELYN R. UY
