Village chief nabbed for drugs in Tarlac

TARLAC CITY—-A village official was arrested on Friday (Jan. 12) when policemen found a hand grenade and five sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) at his home in Barangay San Sebastián.

Armed with a search warrant, the Tarlac police raided the home of San Sebastian village chair Sherwin Samson, 43, at 10:30 a.m. and found the contraband hidden inside a pair of used leather shoes.

Samson was out on bail for four previous drug complaints, and has been on the police drug watch list, said Senior Supt. Ritchie Medardo Posadas, Tarlac police director.

The search warrants were issued by Nueva Ecija Judge Brigando Saldivar of Regional Trial Court Branch 31.
