VILLASIS, PANGASINAN — Motorists planning to travel this weekend through the Manila North Road (MNR) should avoid the portion of the road traversing through this town to avoid delay.
A 3-kilometer stretch of the MNR will be closed to traffic on Jan. 12 and 13 to give way to the town’s Talong (Eggplant) Festival and fiesta celebration.
According to a social media post by Roderick Mina, this town’s planning and development officer, the MNR section from Barangay (village) San Nicolas to Barangay Puelay will be closed from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 12 and from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.on Jan. 13.
The road closure has been approved by the Department of Public Works and Highways district office in Rosales town.
Mina said northbound motorists can take the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEx) exit in Barangay Carmen East in Rosales and exit back to the MNR in Urdaneta City or Binalonan town.
They can also pass through the Magilas Trail by turning right from the MNR to the Carmen-Rosales Road. Their other option is to turn left to the Carmen-Bayambang Road that also connects to roadlines going to Dagupan City and western Pangasinan towns.
Southbound vehicles can take the TPLEx in Binalonan and Urdaneta.
Mina said adequate traffic enforcers and policemen will be deployed and signages will be installed for the rerouting scheme. /je
