FRANCIS Parangan led three other tennisters who advanced to the second round of the boys 18-Under of the Milo Junior Tennis Cup Visayas leg yesterday at the Consolacion Tennis Courts in Laray, Consolacion southern Cebu.
Parangan chalked up a 6-2, 6-4 win over of Peter Minoza. He was joined in the winner’s column by Bran Mangapis, who defeated Gideon Huyo-a, 6-0, 6-0, and Francis Autida, who survived Brylle Topia, 6-4, 6-4.
In the boys 16-Under, Parangan and Mangapis also won their respective matches. Parangan advanced via default against Johnny Necessario, while Mangapis blanked Gerald Abrazado, 6-0, 6-0.
Parangan’s brother Adrian was not so lucky as he bowed to Ralph Juliani, 6-7, 3-6.
Top netter Jan Godfrey Seno hurdled his first-round assignment in the boys 14-Under against Lagrono, 6-2, 6-0.
Seno also created havoc in the 12-Under boys along with Arthur Craig “Igi” Diaz Pantino. Seno booted out Von Mejica while Pantino dismissed Joshua Escobia with identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.
In the distaff side, Crissianne Issa Kintanar led the winners in the 14-Under after winning via default against Irish Jaca.
Other matches saw, Sharalene Tunacao defeated Irish Valverde, 6-3, 6-2, while Mary Lazaga went past 6-0, 6-1.
Sixteen-Under girls winners were Adriel Culpa, Dawn Uy, Darryl Paglinawan, Glory Bohol and Fatima Cuyno.
In the 12-Under girls, Alexie Santos had a walk in the park after Pink Manabat defaulted in their match.
