The Department of National Defense on Wednesday slammed the Communist Party of the Philippines for its “bankrupt ideology” for telling its comrades to “work towards the downfall” of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“The CPP’s call for an unholy alliance of all groups opposed to the government just to bring down the President, ‘even those with the biggest contradiction with the revolutionary forces,’ brings to light their bankrupt ideology,” the DND said in a statement.
In the editorial of the CPP’s official publication “Ang Bayan” published on Jan. 7, it said that “the downfall of the Duterte is the most important task of the revolutionary forces.”
The communists called for the “launch of campaigns, both armed and unarmed, to deal serious blows to the regime and weaken it until it falls.”
They also said that the President would become “increasingly isolated” from the people from the impact of the killings from the drug war and the counterinsurgency campaign, the increase of basic commodities due to the new tax law, and the possibility of federalism.
The DND noted that the President Rodrigo Duterte is far from being “increasingly isolated” from the Filipino people based on his latest survey and high approval ratings.
“This latest statement of the CPP-NPA once again shows how far these communist-terrorists are far from the truth and how years of propagating lies have deluded their sense of reality,” it said. /je
