WATCH: Devotees try to get close enough to touch Black Nazarene

Men and women throng to touch with their hands or with a towel the image of the Black Nazarene, believing it could fulfill their prayers.

But if it is not possible, some devotees are satisfied with touching the rope that pulls the Andas, the carriage that carries the revered image.

In this video, men and women struggle to touch the rope as the Andas make its way along Vergara Street.

Hijos del Nazareno, those who manage the image, remove the rope from the devotees’ hands to give other devotees a chance to grasp it.

As of this posting, the Black Nazarene is traversing Castillejos Street. It left the Quirino Grandstand at about 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

The yearly Feast of the Black Nazarene attracts millions of devotees. /atm
