Robbers who broke into a pawnshop in Quezon City on Wednesday evening also took with them the store’s closed circuit television (CCTV) camera to make sure they would not be identified.
Senior Supt. Norberto Babagay, head of the Quezon City Police District station 11, said the suspects broke into Rueve Pawnshop along E. Rodriguez Sr. Boulevard at the corner of Hemady Street in Barangay Mariana and took off with money and jewelry.
Babagay said the suspects dismantled the store’s hidden CCTV and added the equipment to their loot.
Officer on case, SPO1 Glenn Calimag said the location of the CCTV is known only to the staff of the pawnshop.
Based on the evidence left at the scene of the robbery, the suspects dismantled the security camera first and then proceeded to open the vault containing the cash and jewelry, Babagay added.
Apart from the CCTV, the valuables taken were estimated to be worth P350,000.
Calimag said the robbery took place between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., while the store was closed for the night.
He said the robbers were able to break into the store unnoticed and also left without being seen by the establishment’s security guards.
