Zambo cops nab suspected bomber, seize 2 improvised explosives
ZAMBOANGA CITY – Authorities have arrested a suspected bomber and seized two improvised explosives from his rented room during a raid at a pension house in this city, police disclosed on Tuesday.
Chief Insp. Sheila Tubo Chang, the spokesperson of the city police office, said Benhar Idarus Engeng, a native of Basilan who resided in Taguig in Metro Manila, was apprehended on Monday night in his rented room at the Serenity Pension House in Barangay Putik.
Police said they secured a search warrant after receiving information on the allegedly suspicious activities of Engeng, also known as Ben Akmad, inside his rented room. Chang said police conducted the operation against the suspect around 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Authorities are now preparing the charges against Engeng, who is currently detained at the city police office. /kga
