President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Elson Hermogino as the new commandant of the Philippine Cost Guard (PCG).
Before his appointment, Hermogino, a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1985, was the commander of the Maritime Safety Service Command, said PCG spokesperson Armand Balilo.
Duterte also promoted Hermogino and three other PCG officers, namely Joel Garcia, Rolando Legaspi and Leopoldo Laroya, to the rank of rear admiral.
Garcia served as the PCG officer-in-charge, Legaspi is the head of Marine Environmental Protection Command and Laroya serves as commander of the PCG’s Maritime Law Enforcement Command. —Tina G. Santos
