Ecija farmer killed by motorcycle rider

SAN ANTONIO, NUEVA ECIJA — A 71-year-old farmer was gunned down on Saturday night along the San Antonio-Zaragoza Road in Barangay (village) Papaya.

Benito Pereña was driving home in a motorcycle when he was attacked at 7:25 p.m. by a motorcycle rider who was tailing him, police said.

He died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators are looking into a land dispute as one of the possible motives behind the killing. /je
