About 200 policemen from the Caloocan Philippine National Police (PNP) who underwent a retraining program will be deployed for the Traslacion.

The deployment of the 198 policemen were confirmed by Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, Radyo Inquirer 990 AM reported Sunday.

The policemen will be part of the 5,000-strong contingent that will also be distributed in Manila to ensure the security of an estimated 19 million devotees expected to participate in this year’s Traslacion, which commemorates the transfer of an image of the Black Nazarene from Intramuros to the Quiapo church.

Last year, 1,143 lawmen from the Caloocan PNP underwent retraining after drawing controversies related to the killings of three minors Kian delos Santos, Carl Angelo Arnaiz and Reynaldo de Guzman.

The QCPD held an orientation for the chosen policemen as preparation for the deployment on Tuesday. /cbb
