4 slain in QC since start of the year

A man was shot dead in Quezon City on Friday, the fourth person killed by unidentified gunmen in the city since the start of the year.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the victim as Jerrick Tabardilla, a 37-year-old resident of Barangay Batasan Hills.

A report to Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, QCPD director, said Tabardilla and his wife left their house at the corner of Kalusugan and Kaunlaran Streets around 9 p.m. to buy cigarettes.

When the woman went back, two men on a motorbike approached Tabardilla and shot him repeatedly, killing him on the spot.

Police said a sachet containing suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) was recovered from the crime scene, along with several 9-mm and .45-caliber bullet casings.

Three other men have been shot dead in Quezon City since Jan. 1.

They included a man police had linked to the drug trade and was ambushed on his way home in Payatas on Friday afternoon. —Jhesset O. Enano
