President Duterte accepts resignation of son Paolo

President Rodrigo Duterte accepted on Friday the resignation of his son Paolo, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

“President Rodrigo Duterte has already accepted this afternoon the resignation of Davao City Vice-Mayor Paolo Duterte,” Roque said in a statement.

Paolo resigned on December 25.

In a letter addressed to Paolo dated January 5, Executive Secretary Salvadot Medialdea said the President has accepted his resignation.

“We refer to your letter tendering your resignation as Vice Mayor of Davao City. On behalf of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, this is to inform you that your resignation is hereby accepted, effective immediately,” the letter read.

Paolo resigned on December 25, citing “delicadeza” over his word war with his daughter Isabelle, his alleged involvement in the P6.5 billion shabu smuggling, and his failed marriage with his first wife. /jpv
