For the third time this year, the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) suffered another glitch, forcing a northbound train to unload around 800 passengers at Shaw Boulevard Station on Friday morning.

According to its advisory, the service interruption at 7:41 a.m. was caused by an electrical failure in the train’s motor.

It said that the cause of the electrical failure could be due to worn out electrical sub-components.

Two minutes later, another train arrived to accommodate offloaded passengers.

As remedial measures, the MRT said it needs to replace some of the train’s electrical components as well as conduct preventive maintenance to avoid future electrical failures.                     /kga
