5 drug personalities killed in police raids since Dec. 5

Five people have died in police antidrug operations since Dec. 5 last year, when President Duterte brought the Philippine National Police back to the war on narcotics.

PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos on Thursday said that until Thursday, police conducted over 708 police antidrug operations and arrested 1,096 drug personalities. Five suspected users and pushers died resisting arrest, Carlos said.

A policeman, PO3 Wilfredo Gueta, was killed while another was wounded while conducting antinarcotics surveillance on Dec. 17 on Katarungan Street in Barangay Caniogan, Pasig City.

Drug suspect Roberto Llaguno was killed in the ensuing shootout while PO1 Raymond dela Cruz was wounded. According to #RealNumbersPH data, 3,968 drug personalities were killed in over 80,000 antinarcotics operations from July 1, 2016 to Dec. 27, 2017. Jeannette I. Andrade
