Nurses, criminologists, teachers oversupplied—PRC

MANILA, Philippines—During the launch of its radio show on Thursday in Malate, Manila, the Professional Regulation Commission gave a rundown on oversupplied and undersupplied licensed professions in the Philippines.

Expectedly, nursing was listed among the professions with an oversupply of practitioners which, surprisingly, also included criminology and teaching.

Undersupplied professions, meanwhile, spanned from optometry, nutrition and dietetics, guidance counseling, social work, medical technology, pharmacy, librarians, psychology and dentistry, said PRC commissioner Jennifer Jardin-Manalili.

PRC chair Teresita Manzala, meanwhile, said that from 2005 to 2010, there have been increasing examinees for the board exams for criminology, fisheries technology, radiologic technology, nursing, nutrition and dietetics.

Having decreasing examinees, meanwhile, were dentistry, medical technology, optometry, physical and occupational therapy and mining engineers.
