The Navotas City government is offering amnesty to delinquent real property taxpayers.
Signed on Dec. 4, City Ordinance No. 2017-19 grants full relief from interest and penalties on unpaid real property taxes within the next six months.
According to Irish Cubillan, city public information officer, the ordinance aims to provide relief to those who cannot afford to settle their liabilities and improve the city government’s tax collection.
Excluded from the amnesty, however, are real property that have been disposed of or forfeited in public auctions to satisfy tax delinquencies; those that are the subject of pending cases for delinquencies; and those whose tax assessments have either been sustained or allowed by the courts. —Krixia Subingsubing
