An electrical failure bogged down a southbound Metro Rail Transit (MRT) train at Shaw Boulevard Station on Thursday evening, making it the third glitch to happen in the first week of new year.
In a service report, the MRT management said an electrical failure in the train’s motor was reported at 7:22 p.m. The glitch was caused by “worn out electrical sub-components.”

About 400 commuters disembarked at the station, according to the management. A skip train was deployed to accommodate the offloaded passengers five minutes later.
The defective train was returned to the depot for preventive maintenance and replacement of electrical components. /jpv
