The Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) is advising motorists passing Manila to take alternative routes on Jan. 7 due to the procession of replicas of the Black Nazarene.
In an advisory issued Thursday, the MDTEU said three roads would be closed on Sunday as preparation to the procession of the replicas which would start at 2 p.m.
The following roads would be closed starting 11 a.m.:
- Southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard (Quiapo), from A. Mendoza/Fugoso to Plaza Miranda
- Eastbound lane of CM Recto Avenue from Rizal Avenue to SH Loyola Street
- Westbound lane of Espana Boulevard from P. Campa to Lerma St.
The procession will start from Plaza Miranda before turning left to Quezon Boulevard, left to G. Puyat., right to Evangelista Street, right to Recto Avenue, right to Loyola Street, right to Bilibid Viejo through Puyat Street, left to Guzman Street, right to Hidalgo Street, left to Barbosa Street, right to Globo de Oro Street, right to Palanca Street, right to Villalobos Street through Plaza Miranda, then straight up to Quiapo Church.
All vehicles coming from España Boulevard intending to go to Roxas Boulevard, South Pier Zone, or Taft Avenue, were advised to turn right to P Campa then straight to Fugoso Street.
Motorists from A. Mendoza going to Quezon Boulevard would have to turn right to Fugoso and left to Rizal Avenue, the advisory said.
The MDTEU said motorists from Divisoria going to CM Recto would have to turn right to Rizal Avenue.
Lastly, all vehicles using S.H. Loyola Street coming from Balic-balic and going to the Quiapo area would have to turn right to CM Recto Avenue. /cbb
