Soldier, cop nabbed for firing, wielding gun in Pangasinan
DAGUPAN CITY – An Army sergeant and a police officer were arrested in two separate incidents of gun-firing and gun-toting in Pangasinan province on Tuesday night.
Police records indicated that a concerned resident alerted authorities against Sgt. Ferdinand Niño, who had been reportedly indiscriminately firing his gun from inside a car. Niño did not resist arrested when police pulled him out of a Toyota Innova around 10:15 p.m. in Barangay (village) Centro Toma in Bani town.
Pangasinan police director Sr. Supt. Ronald Oliver Lee said Niño is a member of the 59th Infantry Brigade of the 2nd Infantry Division based in Camp Capinpin in Tanay town, Rizal province.
Confiscated from Niño was a 9-millimeter Gloc pistol.
In Malasiqui town, PO3 Peter Carpizo, a member of the police maritime group based in Dagupan City, was nabbed after he threatened a housewife with his 9-mm Gloc pistol around 11:50 p.m. in Barangay Lasip. /kga
