Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said “it’s not worth it,” to risk your life or a limb for a momentary pleasure of playing with firecrackers.
Duque said there is always that possibility that something could go wrong when lighting up a firecracker, and the consequence could be life-long sufferings.
The health secretary said even if full medical assistance will be provided for by the government, it is not worth to take the risk.
“Para saan? Pang madaliang kasayahan? Anong kapalit? Panghabangbuhay na kapansanan? Panghabangbuhay na pagdudurusa? It’s not worth it,” Duque stressed in an interview with Radyo Inquirer 990AM.
(For what? Brief gratification? What’s at stake? A life living on disability? A whole life of suffering? It’s not worth it.)
“Yung bayad kahit na hindi problema, pero yung panghabambuhay na kapansanan, kapag kayo po ay naputulan ng daliri o kamay ay pati edukasyon ng inyong anak ay maaapektuhan dahil hindi na po iyan makakasulat o mahihirapan na yan magsulat,” he said.
