Jail visitor hides ‘shabu’ in shoes, is nabbed

/ 05:22 AM January 02, 2018

A woman visiting her cousin at the Pasay City Jail was arrested after sachets of “shabu” (crystal meth) were found hidden inside her shoes on Sunday.

Mergeline Falcunit, 29, a resident of Maricaban, visited her cousin, Jimboy Concepcion, at the male dormitory of the jail around 2 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.

At the inspection area, jail warden Chief Insp. Glenn Ford Valdapenas noticed that Falcunit was “nervous and uneasy.”

They did not find anything when she was frisked, but found two sachets of suspected shabu and an aluminum strip inside the insole of her hot pink shoes. —Dexter Cabalza
