QC cops nab drunk security guard for indiscriminate firing

A security guard who was under the influence of liquor on New Year’s day was arrested by the Quezon City Police for indiscriminate firing.

Chief Supt Guillermo Eleazar, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, identified the suspect as Leonard Cantil, 47, a guard from the Royal Mandarin Security agency and a resident of Novaliches, Caloocan City.

According to a QCPD report, Cantil started firing around 12:30 a.m at Taniman de Gloria Extension in Batasan Hills in Quezon City using a cal .45 Rock Island pistol.

Eleazar said Cantil, a security guard for nine years, was under the influence of liquor at the time of his arrest.

Seven empty shells, Cantil’s firearm and a magazine loaded with five bullets were recovered as evidence by the police.

Cantil is currently detained at the QC Police station 6. /jpv
