2 watchmen in Mandaluyong shooting test positive for gunpowder nitrates

The two barangay watchmen tagged in Dec. 28 deadly shooting incident on Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong have tested positive for gunpowder nitrates.

According to a report by Radyo INQUIRER, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory released paraffin test results showing 10 persons involved in the shooting as positive for gunpowder burns.

Ernesto Fajardo and William Duron, the village watchmen tagged in the incident, were among the 10 persons who tested positive in the paraffin test.

The watchmen, however, denied they were carrying guns during the ill-fated encounter.

Jonalyn Ambaon Anilao, the injured woman who was killed inside a white Mitsubishi Adventure in a hail of gunfire, was also among those who tested positive for gunpowder nitrates.

Others who tested positive were Ambaan’s companion, two Barangay Addition Hills residents, and four Mandaluyong policemen.

Director Oscar Albayalde, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, said he suspected another shooting occurred between the SUV passengers and the police before the incident on Shaw Boulevard, according to Radyo INQUIRER. /atm
