QC police seize P1M cocaine, ecstasy in New Year’s Eve bust

Quezon City police seized an estimated P1 million worth of cocaine and ecstasy from three suspects in a buy bust operation along Timog Avenue on New Year’s Eve.

QC Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, who supervised the arrest, said at least 30 grams of cocaine, 200 tablets ecstasy, liquid ecstasy in bottles were seized from the suspects.

In all, confiscated substances were estimated to be worth P1 million, Eleazar said in a text message to the Inquirer.

A male suspect and his three female accomplices were arrested during the QCPD drug enforcement unit’s operation in front of a Chinese restaurant about 9 a.m. Sunday.

The arrested suspects were identified as Michael Franz Karag, Nina Recio, Sarah Sibayan and Dianne Strella.

About 20 plastic sachets of cocaine worth P300,000, ecstasy tablets worth P500,000, four bottles of liquid Gama Hydroxy Buteroyl amounting to P200,000, and marked money amounting to P100,000 were among the items seized in the drug bust.

A Mazda 2 car with license plate ABE 7567 used by the suspects in the delivery of the illegal drugs was also seized by the operatives.

Cases for violation of Section 5 and 11 of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against the suspects.

They will be temporarily detained at the QCPD’s headquarters in Camp Karingal. /cbb
