The Metro Rail Transit (MRT) has announced it would be giving free rides to commuters on Dec. 30 in commemoration of the 121st death anniversary of national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
MRT General Manager Rodolfo Garcia said free rides could be availed from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 30, according the order he issued on Friday.
During these hours, tellers at all stations would issue free single journey tickets to commuters.
Garcia said he issued the order at the the request of Acting Executive Director Ludovico Badoy of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
Malacañang proclaimed Dec. 30 as a regular holiday in commemoration of Rizal’s life and works. /atm
