The Quezon City police eyes jealousy as the possible motive behind the shooting of an 18-year-old man on Wednesday.
The attack around 10:30 p.m. in Barangay Old Balara killed Fregie Balakid, and also wounded were his companions, Rod Steven Alipao, 21, and Paul Rolan Janaban, 19.
All three worked as service crews. Investigation by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) revealed that the three victims were talking in front of a compound at Purok 1, Area 5, when a man aboard a Yamaha Mio Sporty scooter stopped in front of them and opened fire.
The three were rushed by witnesses to General Malvar Hospital, where Balakid was declared dead on arrival.
Supt. Rossel Cejas, commander of QCPD’s Batasan police station, said initial investigation pointed to a possible “love triangle” as the gunman’s motive. —Jhesset O. Enano
