On his birthday on Tuesday, Sen. JV Ejercito wished for God to bless him, his family, especially his mother, San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez, whom he asked to be protected “against [the] forces of darkness in San Juan.”
Ejercito, who turned 48 years old, was obviously referring to the recall election Gomez would be facing following the Commission on Election’s recent approval of the petition filed by her political ally-turned-rival, former Vice Mayor Francis Zamora, whom she defeated in 2016.
“I am very thankful to the Lord for all the blessings in my life. I have a happy family. I have a fulfilling career in public service. I hope God will continue to bless me with good health in the years ahead so I can continue to be a good husband and father,” the senator said in a text message.
He also expressed his wish that he could “continue—in my small and humble way—to help our country become more prosperous and peaceful.”
