Although Miguel Ivan Mendoza will be under treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia until 2020, doctors have given him permission to go back to school.

This June, the 12-year-old boy will be in the fourth grade at Sinillian First Elementary School in Camiling, Tarlac. He was diagnosed with the disease in July 2014.

“They told us that he might get bored at home if he does not enroll this June. If ever, he will go to school once a week. The rest of the lessons will be given as homework,” Miguel Ivan’s mother, Jeuanie, said.

Miguel Ivan is scheduled to return to Philippine Children’s Medical Center next week for a checkup in preparation for the third of his 12-cycle chemotherapy treatment. The sessions are done three months apart.

“I hope you can help us raise funds to extend his life. We need to spend P50,000 per chemotherapy session. I am appealing to kindhearted readers. May God bless you more,” said Jeuanie. Her husband, Allan, receives P95 a day as a carwash boy.

Jeuanie Mendoza can be reached at 0997-4398778. Donations can be deposited in the Union Bank account of her husband, Allan Mendoza (109451167790), for their son’s medical expenses.
