National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde is aiming for “zero indiscriminate firing” among its ranks, as he vowed to intensify police efforts to maintain peace and order in the metropolis as the New Year revelry draws near.

Albayalde has warned all NCRPO personnel that they would be “dealt with accordingly” if they violate the rule against firing their guns during this season of celebration.

“We will continue to intensify police visibility especially this coming New Year celebration. We will even double our effort to maintain peace and order as we also aim for zero-indiscriminate firing, this is a no-no for our personnel, anyone who violates will be dealt with accordingly,” Albayalde said in a statement on Monday.

The NCRPO chief commended all police personnel for securing and ensuring a peaceful celebration of Christmas.

However, Albayalde also reminded them that work is not over yet as concerns on fireworks use to welcome the New Year must still be addressed.

Alabayalde said they are working with the local government units (LGUs) and other partner-government agencies regarding designated area for fireworks.

Albayalde then urged the public, especially children, not to use firecrackers, and celebrate New Year’s Day as “peacefully and safely as possible.”

“Let us make sure no child will lose a finger. This season is suppose to be for them to enjoy,” he said.

“Umaasa ang inyong kapulisan na magkaisa tayong lahat na ipagdiwang ang pagpapalit ng taon na mapayapa at ligtas sa anumang kapahamakan.”

“Sinisiguro ko rin na mananatiling nakabantay ang inyong kapulisan 24/7 sa gitna ng inyong pagdiriwang upang panatiliin ang kapayapaan at kaayusan sa buong rehiyon,” Albayalde added.                        /kga
