10 hurt as bus falls into ravine in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – At least 10 people were hurt when a bus fell into a 30-meter deep ravine along Quirino Highway in Tagkawayan town, Quezon province, early Tuesday, police said.

Police identified the victims as Rica Antone, Milagros Antone, Salvacion Sto. Domingo, Angelo Sto. Domingo, Lynlyn Oco, Ramon Lord Nerier, Joselito Sto. Domingo, Anaceta Aninion, Jaymark Aninion, and bus conductor Rommel Rosales.

A report from the Tagkawayan police showed that an AB Liner bus, which came from Metro Manila, was negotiating a downhill section of the road in Barangay (village) Bagong Silang around 1:45 a.m. when the accident happened.

The report also stated that the bus was about 30 minutes to its destination at the Tagkawayan town center when the mishap occurred.

The injured passengers were taken to the Maria Eleazar Memorial District Hospital in Tagkawayan and St. Peter General Hospital in nearby Calauag town.   /kga
