Life’s lessons in text messages
One of the best things about the cell phone, aside from eliminating telegrams and writing letters by hand, which can be cumbersome, are the text messages from relatives and friends that impart life lessons.
In this season of giving, I’d like to share with you some of the lessons I’ve learned from text messages sent by friends.
Some of them are quotes from great men, others are written by anonymous authors.
“To whom much is given, much is expected.”
“Gratitude is best expressed when blessings are shared.”
“To be strong is to forgive someone who does not deserve to be forgiven, to be patient is when things you expect seem to be too long and unreachable, to stay calm in times of despair, to smile when you feel like crying, to keep quiet when the ideal is to shout, to comfort even if you also need to be comforted, to make others happy when you have a broken heart and to have faith when there is no more reason to believe.”

The key here is to cultivate gratitude and make it a life mission to help others. This is what brings joy to life and living.” —Francis Kong

“Someday, everything that happens in our lives will make perfect sense. Just laugh at the confusion, smile through the pressures and keep reminding ourselves that everything happens for a reason. Expect that out of our great troubles come our best blessings.”
“Happiness is a choice, not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy.”
“The favors we give to others and the blessings we share are like boomerangs. They come back as favors some other day and in some other ways. It is heaven’s way of giving rewards to those who share with unselfish hearts.”
“Never explain; your friends don’t need it and your enemies won’t believe you anyway.” —Elbert Hubbard
“If you’re not curious, it’s a sign you’re stupid.” —Frank Crane
