ILOILO CITY—A person was killed while four others were seriously injured when two motorcycles collided on Christmas Eve in Balasan town in Iloilo.
Physicians at the Jesus Colmenares District Hospital in Balasan pronounced Johnny Bantiling dead on arrival shortly after the motorcycle that he was driving struck with another motorcycle around 9:40 p.m. along the provincial road in Barangay Tingui-an.
Injured were cousins Expedito Dalesme, 17, who was driving the other motorcycle; and passengers Sensen Dalesme, 29; Lester John Dalesme, 5; and Cindy Dalesme, 9.
Chief Insp. Remie Alabaren, officer-in-charge of the Balasan police station, said Bantiling was on his way to the town proper when his motorcycle collided with the one driven by Expedito who was going in the opposite direction around two kilometers from the town proper.
Bantiling, Expedito and Cindy suffered head injuries.
Bantiling’s motorcycle occupied the lane of the other vehicle while negotiating a curve, according to initial police investigation.
