Senator Leila De Lima acknowledged on Sunday her family and friends’ visit on Christmas Eve amid the “political persecution.”

Despite being detained in Camp Crame, Quezon City, the former justice secretary said that she found strength in her relatives and supporters’ love and support.

“Of course, this political persecution brought about by this vindictive regime pains me. Pero sa kabila ng lahat ng ito, masaya akong makapiling kayo ngayong Pasko—ang aking pamilya, mga kaibigan at taga-suporta,” De Lima said in a statement.

The senator then wished “for vindication and freedom from her unjust detention” that she got under President Duterte’s term.
