About 57,000 individuals were being monitored by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the evacuation areas in Mindanao as response operations continue in the wake of Typhoon “Vinta.”
Dir. Felino Castro, Disaster Response Assistance and Management Bureau of DSWD, said Sunday that there are more than 200 evacuation centers catering to the high number of affected individuals.
“The figures are quite dynamic at this point but we are monitoring a lot of evacuation centers that are existing, latest count is 202,” Castro said in an interview with DZMM.
“But we are definitely looking at changes in these figures, housing around more than 13,000 families and 57,000 persons,” Castro added.
Region X, he said, was the most affected area after Vinta hit Mindanao.
National response clusters were also deployed over the region since tropical storm “Urduja.” /je
