Doris Bigornia, 5 others hurt in Shaw accident
Six persons, including a TV reporter and her coworker, were hurt in a six-vehicle pileup at the Edsa-Shaw tunnel in Mandaluyong City, on Thursday afternoon.
Bong Nebrija, supervising officer for operations of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, identified the injured as ABS-CBN reporter Doris Bigornia, her coworker Marcopolo Gutierrez, a motorcycle driver, the driver and passenger of a Toyota Vios and the passenger of a Montero Sport. He said most of them suffered minor injuries.
According to the MMDA, a Montero Sport (PQS 314) on the northbound lane of the tunnel “suddenly went wild” at 1:45 p.m. and hopped over the median, hitting a Toyota Vios on the southbound lane.
The Vios then struck another Montero Sport which flipped over and rammed into the service vehicle of Bigornia. The impact led to several other collisions involving a Mitsubishi Mirage and a motorcycle.
The accident caused heavy traffic on Edsa from Ayala to Cubao. The road was cleared at 3:28 p.m.
