Shorter operating hours for LRT-1, MRT-3 during holidays announced

Metro Manila’s railway transit systems will have shortened operations during the holiday season.

Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 would operate from 4:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on December 24 and 4:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on December 31, according to Rod Bulario, operations director of the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC).

Bulario said the LRT-1 operations would revert to its regular holiday schedule on December 25, 2017 and January 1, 2018 from 4:30 a.m. to 09:50 p.m.

Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 would operate from 4:45 a.m. to 8:26 p.m. on December 24 and 31, according to an advisory provided to reporters.

On December 25, MRT trains would run from 6:30 a.m. to 9:50 p.m., and on December 30, the operations would run from 4:45 a.m. to 9:50 p.m., the advisory stated.

On New Year’s Day, the MRT would run from 6:30 a.m. to 9:50 p.m.

The announcements were made in anticipation of the low turnout of passengers in LRT-1 and MRT-3.

(Note: The LRT Line 2 management said it has yet to release a memorandum on the operating hours for the holidays, an operations staffer said over the phone.)
