The 52-year-old taxi driver in the viral road rage video has sought the cancellation of his alleged attacker’s driver’s license, as he filed a complaint against the woman before the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
In his complaint, Virgilio Doctor asserted that the woman, identified on social media as a certain Cherish Charmaine Interior, violated the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.
Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) board member Aileen Lizada said Doctor’s complaint has already reached the desk of LTO Law Enforcement Service Director Francis Ray Almora.
According to Lizada, the taxi driver, accompanied by taxi operator Arvin Valdecantos, filed his complaint at the LTO on Wednesday.
The taxi driver accused Interior of “intentionally and willfully” causing physical injury and damage to property as well as disregarding traffic regulation when she sideswiped his vehicle, discounting his age and medical condition.
“The acts of the respondent are clear indications the (sic) she is not a proper person to operate (a) motor vehicle. The same are manifestations the (sic) she is not fit to be a holder of driver’s license,” read his 4-page complaint-affidavit provided to reporters on Wednesday.
Doctor said cancelling the woman’s license would be a “pre-emptive measure” to prevent “further damage” and “harm” against the public.
The viral road rage video showed Interior carrying a golf club, and hitting Doctor’s taxi following a purported road altercation.
The woman was allegedly asking the driver to step down. But when the driver opened the door, the woman supposedly slapped him.
Doctor consequently stepped out of the taxi, holding his cheek and limping; and eventually sat on the pavement.
The video of the incident was posted last December 17 by a certain Joshua Baluyot. /kga
