A 21-year-old student was apprehended after being caught carrying illegal drugs at the Light Rail Transit-2 (LRT-2) Cubao Station in Quezon City.

Police identified the suspect as Adiv Zimran Santiago, who was accosted Tuesday night after security guards found a sachet of methamphetamine (shabu) in his bag.

According to the investigation of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 7, Santiago was about to enter the station but was prevented by the security guard at inspection point.

Radyo Inquirer 990AM reported that the security guard checked Santiago’s belongings as part of LRT’s protocol and noticed the sachet of shabu.

Santiago, the report said, tried to escape but was waylaid at the adjacent mall.

Authorities said Santiago yielded separate sachets of purported illegal drugs such as marijuana, six ecstasy tablets, and cocaine; as well as a sachet of yellow powder believed to be an illegal substance. Additionally, police said Santiago was found in possession of three bottles of liquid ecstasy; and cash amounting to almost P52,000.

Police said Santiago was supposed to remit the money to his alleged supplier of illegal drugs.

Santiago is currently detained at QCPD Station 7 in Cubao.              /kga
