Employer of woman in viral road rage video condemns ‘misconduct’

The employer of the woman involved in the viral road rage video has distanced itself from the controversial incident, but said that it does not condone any misconduct by any of its employees.

VXI Global Holdings B.V., in a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Monday, said it was aware of the recent traffic altercation between one of its employees, Cheris Sharmaine Interior, and taxi driver, Virgilio Doctor.

The altercation is the subject of a video that went viral over the weekend. It shows Interior slapping Doctor in the face, and trying to dismantle the side mirror of the driver’s taxi.

“VXI Global Holdings B.V. is aware of the recent altercation involving a VXI employee and a taxi driver after photos, videos, and other postings about the incident circulated on social media,” VXI said.

The company explained that the incident occurred during Interior’s personal time, saying it would let the proper authorities to investigate the issue.

“However, the incident occurred when the employee was on personal time and was not doing any work for VXI. We leave it to the appropriate authorities to handle the case,” it said.

“While VXI is not in any way connected with the incident, VXI does not condone misconduct and any inappropriate behavior by any of its employees,” it added.

The video has earned the ire of netizens, who called on the company to fire Interior.      /kga
