Ten more bodies were unearthed from a landslide site in Biliran province and brought to 33 the dead in the tragedy brought by tropical storm “Urduja” over the weekend, a provincial officer said Tuesday.
Jun Dacillo, of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), disclosed the death toll and added that 23 others were still missing under tons of mud, rocks and debris.

“Maraming bahay ang natabunan. Marami ring tao sa kabahayan,” Dacillo said in an interview over radio dzMM.
Dacillo said the huge volume of water dumped by Urduja in the province triggered the landslide.
He also said storm-spawned floods destroyed five bridges.
“Pati yung flow ng ekonomiya natin apektado,” he said, citing the delivery of supplies, electricity and fuel.
A state of calamity has been declared in Biliran. /cbb
