ZAMBOANGA CITY — A soldier was killed while two others were wounded when they were ambushed by Abu Sayyaf bandits in Tipo-Tipo town in Basilan province on Monday morning.
Senior Insp. Mujahid A. Mujahid, police chief of Tipo-Tipo, said a team of soldiers from the 74th Infantry Battalion was checking a report of an improvised explosive device planted in the village of Badja when the bandits attacked them in Sitio Baunodagaw at 6:20 a.m.
Police reports did not identify the slain and wounded soldiers. —Julie Alipala
