Second MRT train conks out; 620 passengers offloaded
The operation of Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 was briefly disrupted for the second time on Monday because of another technical breakdown, affecting more than 600 passengers rushing home or to their appointments.
The glitch happened two hours after a train between Magallanes and Taft Avenue station conked out.
The southbound train offloaded 620 passengers at North Avenue station at 5:19 p.m. The problem was blamed on electrical failure in the train’s motor, the MRT said.
Explaining further, the MRT said the electrical failure was caused by worn out electrical sub-components such as regulator, insulators, chopper and carbon brush.
Passengers got their ride on a different train more than five minutes later, an MRT-3 advisory said.
