DID YOU KNOW: Dec. 18 is Graciano Lopez-Jaena Day

Graciano Lopez-Jaena Day is observed on Dec. 18 by virtue of Republic Act No. 9070 signed on April 8, 2001 by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Born on Dec. 18, 1856, Lopez-Jaena played a significant part in the Philippine revolution against Spain.

A great orator and writer, he published the first issue of La Solidaridad, the news organ of the revolutionary movement.

He died on Jan. 20, 1896. —Marielle Medina
