Storm brings down power lines in Masbate

DIMASALANG, Masbate — Power lines were down in Masbate province as Tropical Storm “Urduja” continued to pour heavy rains over Southern Luzon and Visayas. Other towns had been without electricity since Friday.

Floods were reported in four barangays in Masbate City where canals were being rehabilitated.

These were highways in Barangays Ibingay, Espinosa, Nursery, and Cawayan Exterior.

Meanwhile, 93 families, or 416 persons, were evacuated in Sitio San Isidro of Barangay Cawayan Exterior and Barangay Nursery in Masbate City.

Alexis Mabini of the Masbate City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, said residents of Barangay Ibingay were evacuated late Saturday night.
