The Metro Rail Transit (MRT) suffered another technical glitch this month as an electrical failure forced a northbound train to unload about 700 passengers at Boni Station on Saturday morning.
According to a service report, the train suffered an electrical failure in its motor at 8:14 a.m. due to worn out sub-components, which include regulator, insulators, chopper or carbon brush.
The MRT then deployed a skip train to accommodate the offloaded passengers five minutes after, the report stated.
The affected train was taken to the MRT depot for preventive maintenance and replacement of electrical components.
This is the 18th recorded glitch to hit the MRT’s operations in December.
So far, there have only been five days this month that the congested railway transit did not suffer a glitch: Dec. 1, 4, 5, 11, and 13.
Last Friday night, about 1,200 passengers were also offloaded at GMA Kamuning Station also due to technical glitch. /jpv
